The former winner of Food Network's Cupcake Wars is undergoing a much anticipated expansion.

At 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, Urban Cookies Bakeshop will close the doors to its current location, and will reopen on Saturday, April 1, in a larger building at 2325 North Seventh Street in Phoenix.

The new spot will occupy 2,500 square feet across three suites in the Sheridan Plaza near Seventh Street and Thomas Road, joining current tenants Humble Pie, the Main Ingredient Ale House and Café, and Sutra Midtown Yoga.

Given the upgrade in size, customers can anticipate plenty more parking and seating, as well as an expanded menu due to more room for production (UCB has already developed new doughnuts and cookies). Ownership is also in the process of adding locally roasted espresso to the menu, and kick-starting some new weekend specials that would include items like cinnamon rolls and pie.

At the reopening, the bakeshop will feature live music, and offer free cookies and a T-shirt to the first five customers.

Those who like to wish owner Shaun Breeze and co. good luck – or say goodbye to the current location – may sign the ‘well-wishes wall' up until March 30.
