Last Saturday's Local's Only Skate Jam drew enthusiasts from all over The Valley's deep pool of talented skaters. The event was sponsored by Cowtown Skateboards and VOX Shoes, who supplied some rad contest and raffle prizes. Organized into age groups, the contest consisted of a series of "jam sessions," where several skaters go head to head, each getting one chance to land his or her best tricks for the judges. Minor tech issues, the large amount of skaters and general pandemonium due to a bunch of teenagers being in one spot caused the event to last a lot longer than posted but no one seemed to mind. Even through the heat, the vibe stayed fun and positive to the end. This event, put on by Cowtown, was definitely a good time for any skateboarding enthusiast.
