While Germany and Argentina duked it out the final match of the 2014 World Cup on Sunday, July 13, at Estádio Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro, soccer fans from around the globe were glued to their television sets as the epic encounter unfolded. That included fútbol fanatics here in the Valley, who gathered at spots like the Rose & Crown Pub, Rosie McCaffrey’s, and the George & Dragon to cheer on their favorites during World Cup viewing parties.
And things were particularly lively over at German restaurant Haus Murphy's in Glendale, where many Deutschland supporters gathered to cheer on the team as it won the game, 1-0, in extra time and took home the World Cup trophy.
