Second Friday in Mesa was particularly exciting this month thanks to Evermore Nevermore's Encredicon; a tiny convention featuring big (and local) comic talent. Attendees also got to check out a comic book-inspired fashion show.

beer bong glory. Quite often, it's the student-infested apartment and
condo complexes that throw the best bashes. We checked out the party at
the Palms on Scottsdale this weekend to see if the ASU students
Bar Smith got down with its funky side for Wednesday's The Scenario. Local DJs including Pickster One and Hartbreaks dropped dub, house and even old tinny Mexican-inspired beats as attendees helped themselves to the rooftop bar and dance floor.

Despite a lack of street closures and snow cones, Downtown's First Friday once again tore all the cool kids and artistic hipsters out of their respective dwellings and put them on the street. Bands rocked. Glow sticks glowed. Nunchucks chucked.

What do you get when you combine Pabst Blue Ribbon, cigarettes and ironic swimwear? Well, Adult Swim's Labor Day Massive at Hotel San Carlos of course. The hipsters were out in full force on Sunday night, celebrating the reemergence of scene-chronized swimming.
Finally, some CityScape nightlife! Lucky Strike opened its lanes and lounge last Thursday, and folks from all over the Valley came out to drink some booze, throw some balls, and, in a few cases, get turned away for violating the venue's strict dress code.
