Whether it’s the constant thrash of the guitars, the rapid-fire drum rolls, or the vocals that evolve from guttural to melodic to screeching in the same verse, these guys play at such an impossibly blistering speed that it will leave your avatars staring at their guitars and pointing at each other while the audience boos relentlessly. If you can’t please the CGI audience, you might as well join a real one, because this is a band that knows how to put on a show. Their fine-tuned performances feature plenty of interaction with the fans, so it’s not surprising that IWHD has been steadily building a following here and across the country as they promote their album, The Ill Effects of Hope. Their live act is nothing short of all-out assault on your eardrums, especially with frontman Joey Milosevich’s vocals, which are so brutal that it’s not surprising they came from a guy who shares his last name with a Serbian war criminal. — Brian Bardwell
