If you’re looking for outdoor fabric, this is the place that other quilt and indoor craft fabric shops will recommend. Found in the north Valley at the southeast corner of Bell and Cave Creek roads, Fabric Depot Supply LLC & Flooring Center is a 23,000-square-foot warehouse offering more than 7,000 rolls of designer fabric. Material ranges from Sunbrella to velvet, chenille, leather and hides, and embroidery, while other products include drapery hardware, pre-cased pillows, pre-cushion foam, trim, and thread. The store also offers an array of interior design services. Fabric Depot Supply is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Around since 2010, Quiltz is a north Valley fabric shop set southwest of Deer Valley Road and Seventh Avenue. Quiltz specializes in material for quilting and sewing, offering an array of patterns and colors plus fat quarter cuts, instruction booklets, mini quilt kits, tons of buttons, and other crafting supplies. Holiday patterns are big here. There are also in-store groups and clubs, which include classes and craft time for wool appliques and BYOP (bring your own project). Quiltz is open Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

SAS Fabrics
1700 East Apache Boulevard, Tempe

This is the type of fabric store that has everything … if you know how to find it. SAS Fabrics at the northwest corner of Apache Boulevard and McClintock Drive sells fabric by the yard, and includes a huge array of cotton prints like Star Wars, DC and Marvel, polka dots, and even breakfast sandwiches – plus lace, vinyl, velvet, and outdoor fabric. Costume supplies are also in abundance here. Find feather boas, tulle, buttons, bandannas, sequins, and jewels. Sewing supplies are also hung up throughout the store. SAS Fabrics is open Monday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and has two other locations in Phoenix, plus one in Tucson.

Sewing Nuts!
4250 North Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale

An Old Town Scottsdale fabric and sewing machine store, Sewing Nuts! is located at the southwest corner of Scottsdale Road and Fifth Avenue. In 2011, Savi Tavassoli established the store, which also happens to be a Pfaff sewing machine dealer and has a selection of Singer sewing machines. Classes are also offered, and include beginner sewing, Serger or overlook, and general creative workshops – plus classes on yarn crafts, doll-making, and silk painting. Sewing Nuts! is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Tempe Sales Co.
412 West Broadway Road, Tempe

Established in 1958, Tempe Sales Co. is found by that dim, classic sign on Broadway Road west of Mill Avenue in Tempe. This is another warehouse-style fabric store, offering rows and rows of material for upholstery, drapery, bedding, and other home décor projects. Accouterments like decorative knobs and pulls, chair and couch legs, and curtain tassels are also available, plus buckles and plastic bits for bag and backpack upkeep. Outdoor fabric, vinyl, and automotive material is also in abundance. Tempe Sales is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
