Support the independent voice of Phoenix and help keep the future of New Times free.

If you're one of those procrastinator types who works best when time is of the essence, we've got some good news.

Today is your deadline to nominate up-and-coming Phoenix creatives for the 2014 Big Brain Awards.

We're on the hunt for folks who are doing big things in visual art, performing art, culinary art, design, and urban vision, which is this year's new category to recognize people working to make Phoenix a better place.

Sound like anyone you know? Now's your chance to nominate them to win $500.

We'll narrow each category down to three finalists and profile each of them in the New Times and here on Jackalope Ranch and our sister blogs, Chow Bella and Up on the Sun.

Winners will be revealed during New Times Artopia, an evening of art, drinks, food, and music, on Saturday, April 26. Tickets are $25.

No more procrastinating; nominate your favorite creatives (even yourself) for 2014's Big Brains at www.phoenixnewtimes.com/bigbrainawards. Deadline for nominations is Monday, March 3.

Keep Phoenix New Times Free... Since we started Phoenix New Times, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Phoenix, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Phoenix with no paywalls.
