Sara Cochran Hosts Prospective Docent Coffee Meeting

Associate director of Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art Sara Cochran is meeting with art lovers at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts onThursday, April 24, to discuss what it takes to become a SMoCA docent. The free, coffee-fueled get-together will take place at SCPA's Stage 2 Theater at 9:30 a.m. Interested guests should RSVP by calling 480-874-4641. More information can be found at smoca.org.

Italian Film Festival

Ciao, Italy. The Italian Film Festival USA is coming to Arizona State University for a full day of foreign films screened at Lattie F. Coor Hall, room 174, on Saturday, April 26. The free festival will screen Women Workers' War at 9:30 a.m., Out of the Blue (Buongiorno Papa) at 11:15 a.m., The Red And The Blue (Il Rosso E Il Blu) at 2 p.m., and The Jewel (Il Gioiellino) at 4 p.m. For more details visit www.italianfilmfests.org.

Star Party

In celebration of International Dark Sky Week, the city of Chandler is hosting a free star party at the Environmental Education Center at Veterans Oasis Park from 8:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday, April 26. This all-ages, community event will have the East Valley Astronomy Club on hand with telescopes and tips to help find certain stars, planets, nebulae, and star clusters in the night sky.
