Uptown Girls

If you're creating original musical performances, as 16 Bars Productions has for several Herberger Lunch Time Theater productions, why mess with good songs sung by nobodies? Uptown Girls, 16 Bars' latest confection continuing through Thursday, April 9, delves into the diva - that larger-than-life lady who's filled with more emotions than mere mortals can handle as well as a set of pipes that'd put a Mighty Wurlitzer to shame. Selections include hits from such favorite famous females as Ethel, Judy, and Carol. (And they're not talking Barrymore, Holliday, or Kane.)

The performance on Tuesday, April 7, begins at 12:10 p.m. in the Kax Stage on the north side of the Herberger Theater Center, 222 East Monroe Street. Admission is $6. Visit www.herbergertheater.org or call 602-252-9497. Julie Peterson
