It's time to saddle up for a cause, because the Phoenix Spokes People are calling out to Valley cyclists to join them on a group ride to Chase Field for an afternoon baseball game.

The evening will start at The Original Hamburger Works, 2801 North 15th Avenue, for happy hour at 4 p.m. Friday, August 8. The group will then make the four-mile ride to the ballpark on a casual, all-ages and all-experience-levels-welcome ride, which will utilize as many bike lanes as possible. Once the game is over, riders can meet back up at Gate J at the field around 10 p.m. to bike back with the group.

While the event is a fun way to get out and bike around town with your fellow cycling enthusiasts, the best part is that the $12 ticket price (which is normally $22) includes a $2 donation to the bike advocacy group. The Cottage

Whether you enjoy Jane Austen classics or old reruns of Gossip Girl, chances are you enjoy a romantic scandal as much as the next drama queen. Inspired by the works of Noel Coward, The Cottage tells the tale of a married women bent on exposing her love affair with her husband's brother.

Rocky Horror Picture Show

For ages, man has tried to either fast-forward to the future or blast to the past. As it turns out, doing the time warp isn't that hard at all. It's just a jump to the left, a step to the right, hands on the hips with knees bent tight, and finally the pelvic thrust, which may or may not drive you insane. For one night only, sweet transvestites and their Frankenstein-Adonis counterparts can dress up like hot patooties for a double dose of science fiction cult film favorite The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is presented Saturday, August 9, at Phoenix Theatre, 100 East McDowell Road. Showtimes are 7 and 11:30 p.m. General admission is $11.50, and VIP tickets are $26.50. Phoenix Mercury vs. Minnesota Lynx

It'd be pretty easy for sports fans to slouch into the doldrums of summer right about now. No NFL, no NBA, no NHL, and -- as the Diamondbacks bleed out the remainder of a disappointing season -- not much MLB either. Well, before spiraling into a sports fandom identity crisis, consider that the Phoenix Mercury are in the midst of one of the greatest regular seasons in WNBA history. Not franchise history, league history.

With ageless all-star Diana Taurasi and shot swatting juggernaut (swatternaut?) Brittney Griner at the helm, the Mercury are sitting high atop the league standings, with only the formidable Minnesota Lynx even visible in the rear-view. And it's those pesky Lynx, led by MVP frontrunner Maya Moore, who have had Phoenix's number in recent years. But this year the Merc are better, way better. See for yourself when they host the Lynx at U.S. Airways Center, 201 East Jefferson Street, at 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 9. Tickets start at $12.
