A Midwinter Night's Dream

Hello? Oh, hi! I’m okay . . . considering. Nope, he’s still staying at the hotel. He says he doesn’t know if he can love me anymore. You’re right, he’s an asshole. Anyway, let’s talk about something else. How did it go last night? Mmm hmm. Oh, that’s a nice restaurant. Mmm hmm. Wow, so he’s still looking promising. And then back to his place? So? Oh, you poor, poor thing. Whiskey dick is the worst.

Welcome to the world of dating and relationships. As exhilarating or torturous as it may be, we’re wired for this shit. Still, we can alleviate our own struggles by reveling in the pathetic stories of others. Playwright John Cariani no doubt agrees, because his Almost, Maine is all about men and women falling in love, busting up relationships, and all the crap that happens in between. The romantic comedy takes place on a single frigid night in the mythical, snowy town of the title, and just may restore your faith in the magic of love. Maybe.
