Along Came Poly

Between the travel expenses and the time off work, experiencing Polynesia is easier said than done. Fortunately, the Musical Instrument Museum is making your cultural excursions possible by bringing the islands to you. Experience Polynesia is an all-ages event offering scheduled activities throughout the day including Hawaiian instrument demos, volcano ukulele how-tos, halau hula napuaokalei’ilima and na leo kupono dance performances, live music from The Sandwich Isle Ukulele Band, ‘uli’uli crafts, face painting, photo booths, and a gallery discussion of Polynesian instruments. Polynesian food and merchandise will also be available for purchase.

Experience Polynesia on Saturday, May 31, and Sunday, June 1, at the Musical Instrument Museum, 4725 East Mayo Boulevard. Festivities run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are included with museum admission, which ranges from $10 to $18. For details, visit or call 480-478-6000.
