It's a good time to be an Arizona-based, exhibit-seeking creative type.
Arizona Artists Guild is looking for statewide artists to contribute to its "Fall Juried Fine Arts Exhibition," scheduled to take place from November 6 through November 30 at the Arizona Artists Guild Building, 18411 North 7th Avenue. The juror for the 2010 exhibit is Joan Waters, who will accept submissions through September 17. For details, check out www.arizonaartistsguild.org.
Also, Phoenix's Burton Barr Central Library seeks artist submissions for its 2011 exhibition season at @Central Gallery. To be considered, you must be an 18-and-over Arizona resident that's not currently represented by a gallery. The deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, October 15. The particulars can be found at www.phoenixpubliclibrary.org, or send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.

Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism.
