Art and Souls

Instead of merely being a thuggish, dunderheaded megalomaniac, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio has also been a harbinger of the future: At press time, SB 1070 was days from being enacted and has prompted other states to take similar measures. It’s a really dumb vision of the future that these yokels have brought upon us.

“FootPrints – SB 1070" brings together the creative works of artists and everyday people who have risen up in protest of the law in which “reasonable suspicion” sounds a lot like “racial profiling.”

“FootPrints” is actually an ongoing effort organized by the CALACA Cultural Center in Phoenix. The project was put together in hopes of shedding light upon issues within Latino art and culture with a traveling exhibit that includes art, music, video, collaborative pieces, posters, and SB 1070 protest signs that were used by those talking the talk and walking the walk.
