If you're excited to find out which creatives up for this year's Big Brain Awards will be crowned and awarded cash prizes, you'll want to grab a ticket to Artopia on April 27 (where we'll celebrate the finalists and announce the winners).

And if you want to get in on the action, here's your chance . . .

We're on the hunt for vendors of handmade goods -- clothing, accessories, visual art, home furnishings, you get the idea -- to sell their work at the big event.

Artopia will take over Monarch Theatre from 7 to 11 p.m. in downtown Phoenix and will feature a Craft Village where handmade will go far beyond your grandma's cross-stitch projects. If you're interested, check out the Big Brains page and fill out the questionnaire to submit your work for consideration.

And while you're hawking your latest creations, you can cheer on the finalists, including:

CRAFT Ashley Cooper Keytha Fixico Brandon Boetto

VISUAL ART 1Spot Kelsey Dake David Emitt Adams

DESIGN Lindsay Kinkade Justin Katz Jon Arvizu

Tickets to Artopia are on sale now. Stay tuned to Jackalope Ranch and our sister food blog Chow Bella for profiles of the finalists, and keep up with the Big Brain page for more details ...

Keep Phoenix New Times Free... Since we started Phoenix New Times, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Phoenix, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Phoenix with no paywalls.
