There may not be an Arizona sports team with a more successful history than ASU’s baseball team. The Sun Devils have been a perennial contender for the better part of the last half-century, they’ve won five national championships, and they’ve produced some of the best major league players of all time.
Despite this, the Sun Devils are arguably only the second most successful baseball program in the Pac 12: the University of Southern California Trojans (who have won 12 national titles) claim the top honor.
History, of course, won’t have much bearing on the outcome on Friday, April 4’s 6:30 p.m. match-up between ASU and USC at Packard Stadium, 201 South Packard Drive in Tempe. Both teams are strong contenders in the Pac-12 -- though neither looks quite as good as Oregon at the moment. So the game should be a good one. Tickets start at $8 and are available through www.thesundevils.com.
