Born to Hand Jive

Oh, the ‘50s. Those were simpler times, back when Harry Truman approved the production of the hydrogen bomb and Senator Joseph McCarthy started his communist witch-hunt. Back when a man could make a real living and a woman could make a real breakfast. No, there was none of today’s paranoia then. It was all poodle skirts and saddle shoes, much as the ‘60s equaled The Beatles and love, and ‘80s were nothing but He-Man and neon.

OK. Maybe we tend to romanticize the past, but SKYE does it to perfection during its weekly throwback Sock Hop on Wednesdays. Peg those jeans and grease up that hair, then hand jive your way to the west valley for a taste of something that actually happened in the mid-previous-century: dweeby dancing en masse.
