Like the old saying goes, all good things must come to an end. So even though it'll break their hearts to see it go, the DJs of the Salacious Beat Slingers are ending the long-running Fat's Breaks night. Debuting last spring, the Tuesday-night affair (originally called "A Case of the Tuesdays") saw the crew of DJs Chromatest J. Pantsmaker, Louder, Covalence, and guests dropping phat breakbeats all over Fat Tuesdays, 680 South Mill Avenue in Tempe, for about 90 weeks. So what's the deal? Chromatest says it was just time for a change. "We just wanted to do something different," he says. A farewell fete is planned for Tuesday, October 28, when the entire crew will spin along with special guest DJ Bacteria (who's also celebrating his birthday). As always, $2 specials on domestic bottles, well drinks, and daiquiris will be available. The beats start breaking at 8 p.m. and there's no cover. Visit www.beatslingers.com.
