Cash Only

If imitation is indeed the sincerest form of flattery, then Douglas Benson dispatches flowery love letters to the Man in Black every time he performs with his tribute band, Cash’d Out.

Not only does the frontman for the San Diego-based Johnny Cash tribute band rumble his way to a pitch-perfect imitation of the legendary songsmith, he also bears a close resemblance to the late artist. Aside from the pompadours and black suits, however, Cash’d Out walks the proverbial line with a hefty dose of reverence, armed with a repertoire primarily consisting of Cash’s Sun Records and plenty of anecdotes about the highwayman’s tumultuous life.
