Classical ballet's fine and all. But does it move you?
If yes, you'll want to attend Ballet Arizona's Masters of Movement. If no, you'll want to attend Ballet Arizona's Master's of Movement. And if you're on the fence, same goes.
The program promises three distinct movement styles. There's the weirdo modern choreography of Alejandro Cerrudo, whose work “Off Screen” pulls inspiration (and music) from films. It will be presented alongside a pair of original pieces from Ballet Arizona's artistic director, Ib Andersen. “Symphonie Classique” is the most traditionally ballet of the bunch -- for you “yes” responders. And “Indigo Rhapsody” shows the choreographer's more athletic side.
Sample the three styles of movement when the show opens Thursday, March 27, at Orpheum Theatre, 203 West Adams Street. Tickets are $15 to $156, with discounts available to students and seniors. Performances continue through Sunday, March 30. Call 602-381-1096 or visit www.balletaz.org.
