Cowtown Skateboards' PHXAM

This year marks the 14th edition of the Cowtown Skateboards’ PHXAM, where nearly 200 sponsored amateur skaters will gleam the cube for a chance at a top prize of $3000. What started small now attracts talented riders from far-flung places like Canada, Holland, and China. Don’t underestimate the fighting pride of hometown heroes like DeShawn Jordan, Armando Lerma, and Steve Snyder who’ll mix it up in Cowtown’s Throwdown. The top 39 qualifiers from Saturday’s qualifying round will head to the semi-finals on Sunday, which is also when all riders are eligible to compete in the $2500 Best Trick Contest. The Cowtown Skateboards 14th annual PHXAM shreds at Desert West Skate Park, 6602 West Encanto Boulevard. Gates open at 9 a.m. and qualifying heats start at 10 on March 28. The semi-finals continue on Sunday. Visit to find more info. Tickets are available at Cowtown locations.
