We love our Arizona cuisine, from south of the border eats to native desert treats like the prickly pear. But if there's one thing we wish we had more of, it's fresh seafood. And maybe some down-home Southern soul food.

On Saturday, August 10, Valley residents can head north to Mormon Lake for the second annual Crayfish Festival and get a taste of just what they're missing. The family-friendly edible event will include a crawfish boil and educational sessions on how to catch, clean, and cook the crustaceans. Expect some authentic blue grass music to set the mood while you chow down.

The festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Mormon Lake Lodge, 1991 Mormon Lake Road West Side in Mormon Lake. Admission costs $7 per person, $20 for a family of four, and $35 for a family of seven. For more information, call 928-354-2227 or visit
