The Arizona Diamondbacks are having a tough year. Mark Trumbo, the team's best offseason acquisition, was leading the National League in homers before going on the disabled list early in the season. Patrick Corbin, one of the few bright spots amongst a lackluster pitching squad, underwent 'Tommy John' surgery in March, knocking him down for the count before the season even began. Not that Kirk Gibson would ever make excuses, but it's fair to say that setbacks such as these have contributed to the team's extremely rocky start.
Fortunately though, the tenacity that has come to define Gibson's managerial approach is finally beginning to galvanize his personnel — halfway through the season — and the Diamondbacks are starting to rattle off some quality wins. Their newly discovered mojo will be put to the test when they host the Milwaukee Brewers at Phoenix's Chase Field, 401 East Jefferson Street, at 12:40 p.m. on Thursday, June 19. Tickets start at $11.
