Defying Gravity

Elizabeth Streb’s Extreme Action Company follows one guiding principle: Anything too safe is not action. Streb’s company of performers is the subject of a new documentary, Born to Fly: Elizabeth Streb vs. Gravity, which will be on view at FilmBar, 815 North Second Street, for one day only this weekend. The film follows the group of daredevils as they push the boundaries of their own physical and mental limitations for the sake of the performance.

Born to Fly begins at 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 22. The screening is presented with support from Scandalesque, a local performance that incorporates live music, dance theatre, comedy and circus arts. Tickets are $9. For more information call 602.595.9187 or visit
