The Rainbows Festival & Street Fair is sweet in the old-fashioned sense of the word. Its feel-good but non-saccharine, communal but non-violent. No death metal. No gangsta rap. Maybe a few show tunes sprinkled in amid the playfully bawdy main-stage performances of local drag aces Freddy Prinze Charming and Sisterzz Twisted.
Mosh pit? Darling, please.
Other highlights of the eighth annual incarnation as ever, one of the largest LGBT gatherings in the state -- include the Arizona Gay Idol Finals featuring dance/soul singer RaShaan Houston, the hefty (and tasty) cranberry Smirnoffs, and the lingering sense of je ne sais quoi.
