With its stable of Gold Glovers, home run kings and future Hall of Famers mired in a disastrous season, the Arizona Diamondbacks are (to borrow from Soundgarden) looking California but feeling Minnesota these days. So it's most apropos that the cellar-dwelling D-Backs take on the Twins -- those of the Land of 10,000 Lakes -- for a three-game interleague tilt, Friday, July 2, through Sunday, July 4, at Bank One Ballpark, 401 East Jefferson. While baseball commish Bud Selig's interleague match-ups -- that's National League vs. American League teams, for you baseball novices -- have met considerable resistance from the purists since interleague play began in 1997, we think the idea is just dandy. And it's even better for D-Backs fans. Considering the direction this season is headed, the Twins are sure to be the last AL team the D-Backs face until 2005. For tickets, $8 to $92, call 602-514-8400 or see www.azdiamondbacks.com. --Joe Watson

Furious Styles

Learn some moves and earn some bruises at jujitsu classes

7/4-7/25
Don't get mad. Get moving. Learn a jujitsu system used by feudal police of the samurai era -- and channel that anger through choking, blocking, striking, pinning, joint locks and nerve center manipulation. We feel much better now. The class meets at 2 p.m. Sundays in July at Tempe's Kiwanis Rec Center. Call 480-350-5201 to register, $40. -- Jill Koch
