Fine Lines

UrbanAZ’s Celebrity Theatre programming features the funk, soul, rap, and old school we all need, and it’s also crazy fun, positive and uplifting in vibe, and sooooo sexy. (The periodic visits by glistening, chiseled male dancers never get old.) These promoters are the coolest at mixing up tasty performance combos -- poetry, for example, takes an honored place alongside music and comedy. Next up, Saturday, May 18, is Neo Soul & Spoken Word Showcase.

You’ll spark and luxuriate under the oral stylings of Jessica Holter of Punany Poets, Karolina Breeze, Jeary Sylves, Truth B. Told, Wisdom Soul, and more. Music comes from indie R&B artist Bilal, whose recent A Love Supreme dropped at number one on iTunes, and Detroit soul musician and producer Dwele.
