It's time to cue up some Alice Cooper since, you know, school's out for summer as of Wednesday as Arizona State University and other institutions of higher learning in Metro Phoenix.
Once you sell back the armload of textbooks and say adieu to the profs, you might want to use your newfound cash and free time for drinking and celebrating.
Good thing that a few bars and nightlife establishments in Tempe, Scottsdale, and elsewhere have the same idea. Here are five of them:
El Hefe The raison d'être of the "School of Ciroc" party taking place during this week's edition of El Hefe's White Girl Wasted Wednesdays on Wednesday, May 8, is direct and to the point: "One last rager before you go home for summer." Helping fuel the soiree will be such specials as $4 Yukon Jack Red Hot shots, $4 Pineminds, and $6 Ciroc cocktails all night. Bottles of Veuve Clicquot also will be $50 after midnight. The party starts at 8 p.m. and there's no cover.
Gringo Star Bar Arizona State students and grads are more than welcome to attend the grand opening of Gringo Star on Thursday, May 9, and get their first taste of its urban-art-meets-arcade setting, not to mention all the street eats and librations that will be served by its staff. Freddy "DJ Circle" Krems will be in the mix during the establishment's debut and all of its games will be ready to play. Doors open at 11 a.m. and the music starts at 9 p.m. No cover.

Brick Anyone who's done with classes at either Phoenix College or ASU's downtown campus and in a mood to celebrate (or just happen to be have been born between April 19 and May 20), should head for this pizzeria at the Arizona Center on Thursday, May 9. Inside, DJs like JonnY Rogers, Shawn Malisz, Luke Hansen, and 2ToneDisco (who will perform a special two-hour set) will be dropping dance tracks during the event entitled "Taurus: An Astrological Dance Party." There may not be any soothsayers about to predict your future, but if you partake of any happy hour specials from 9 to 11 p.m., as well as the shot specials all night, we're guessing that it will involve some sort of intoxicated antics. Doors open at 9 p.m. Admission is $10.
C.A.S.A. This recent arrival to Mill Avenue's nightlife milieu will bid farewell to the semester when it hosts a special "School's Out Party" on Thursday, May 9, starting at 9 p.m. Two-for-one specials on well drinks and domestic beers can be scored until the midnight hour and $3 Fireball shots will be poured from 9 to 11 p.m. Nytehype Entertainment's stable of mixers -- including Nuck 'n' Futz, Nathaniel Chase, and Wolfclub -- will select the songs that you'll be drinking to all evening. Admission is free.
Firehouse Scottsdale Two members of this Scottsdale hotspot's drink-slanging staff, Chelsea Nordstrom and Vince Driscoll, are donning cap and gown this week, so their employers decided to throw the "Firehouse Grad Bash" on Sunday, May 12, to help celebrate their achievement, as well as anyone else who might be getting their diploma. Selectors like Death to the Throne and Steel are scheduled to occupy the fire truck-like DJ booth all evening, the lovely ladies of the Firehouse Girls will be in attendance, and various drink specials are planned. The bash starts at 8 p.m. Admission is free.
