The Great Gatsby Though it's garnered mixed early reviews, Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of The Great Gatsby will be one thing for sure: visually stunning. The director's saturated, sparkly outing stars Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role of Jay Gatsby, alongside Carey Mulligan's Daisy Buchanan, and Tobey Maguire as Nick Carraway.

The American Dream drama is out everywhere Friday, May 10. The Tents @ Phoenix Art Museum For those who dream of attending New York Fashion Week, James Belzer's documentary The Tents gives a dose of reality -- an inside look at the Big Apple's rise to dominate the fashion industry. Belzer will host a screening of his film at Phoenix Art Museum and answer audience questions once the lights come up. The fashionable flick screens in conjunction with the exhibition "Digital Print Fashion" Sunday, May 12, at 1 p.m. The film is free with general admission, which is $15 for adults.

Star Trek Into Darkness Nerds and normies, get ready. The second J.J. Abrams-helmed Star Trek franchise is nearly here -- along with this summer's most anticipated villain. Excuse us while we resist the urge to type about a billion exclamation points. Into Darkness brings aboard iconic baddie Kahn, portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch (he of BBC Sherlock fame). The sci-fi flick opens everywhere Friday, May 17.The Goonies @ Pollack Tempe Cinemas Hey, you gu-uys. Cult Classics presents a screening of iconic 1985 adventure flick on Saturday, May 18, at 9:30 p.m. The evening of kiddos battling evil also features The Monster Squad. Get an eyeful of Goonies at Pollack Tempe Cinemas for $11, or catch both for $15. VIP ticket packages, complete with posters, cost $20 to $55.

An Oversimplification of Her Beauty @ FilmBar Terrence Nance's debut feature follows a pair of friends on the verge of coupledom. With elements of animation and live action sequences, the film takes its viewers into the mind of the male lead. The film opens at 6:25 p.m. on Friday, May 31, at FilmBar. Tickets are $8.
