Five Must-See Pool Parties in Scottsdale This Weekend

If -- for some reason -- you haven't made it out to any of the posh pool parties that have taken place at local hotels over the past month or so, this weekend offers plenty of chances to dive right into the swanky swim scene.

The organizers of the annual Liquid affair, for example, are presenting this year's edition on Saturday in Scottsdale, while a slew of nearby hotels will also offer summertime splashfests filled with colorful cocktails and a bevy of beats. Here's a rundown of five places where you can be cool by the pool.

Liquid Pool Party @ Clarion Scottsdale If you missed out on last month's epic Relentless Beach at the Clarion, we've got some good news. This chic Scottsdale Road hotel will host another big-time bash on Saturday, which will feature the similarly stellar selection of DJs and drinks around the pool. Benjamin Cutswell, Slippe, and Red Bull Thre3style finalist D-JR will be in the mix all afternoon and evening. Meanwhile, bikini-clad bartenders from several Old Town establishments (including El Hefe, Dollhouse, and Axis/Radius) will serve such specialty cocktails as the "Luna Drop" and "Liquid Assets" until 1 p.m. Gates open at noon. Admission starts at $10.

OH Pool @ Hotel Valley Ho Poolside celebrations are scheduled to take place every single weekend through late September at the Valley Ho's adjacent swanky swimming oasis. Some are reserved for only registered guests of the Scottsdale inn, such as the Session Saturdays affairs, which feature music from DJ Mr. P-Body from 1:30-5:30 p.m. The pool's Happy Hour Fridays -- offering live music, $6 specialty cocktails, and $3 beers -- and City Sundays events are open to the general public, however.

Release Pool Party @ Talking Stick Resort Talking Stick's weekend swim soirees, which take place on both Saturday and Sunday afternoon through mid-July offer plenty of ways to seek relief from the sun. Lounge around in the lengthy shadows cast upon the main pool by the resort's towering buildings. Or you can dive into its ginormous pool, which is surrounded by 11 posh cabanas (each of which is available rent for $400-$550 per day). A nearby bar offers brews, booze, and colorful mixed drinks that are perfect for sipping while guest DJs (such as L.A.'s Scratchy and San Diego's DJ Este) work the mixers. The parties run from noon until 6 p.m. Admission is $10.

Swim Social Weekends @ The Saguaro Hotel The hipster crowd has been turning out in droves at the weekend events being held at the Saguaro's Picante Pool. Swim Meet is held from 1-7 p.m. on Saturdays, where the Hidden House's Al Page serves as resident and drops both soul and surf songs along with special guests. During the Swim Social from 2-7 p.m. on Sundays, however, the DJ team of Sean Watson, Hoodwink, and Anthony "Hartbreaks" Hart are on the ones and twos. Both fiestas feature paletas and other sweet treats from Distrito, as well as luxe libations served by Old Town Whiskey. Cover is $5.

Summer Groove @ W Scottsdale Hotel The second-floor Wet Deck at the W transforms into epicenter of summertime fun every Saturday afternoon. Fashionable urbanites flock to the event, wasting away the afternoon taking a dip in the azure pool or sampling any of a dozen different signature drinks mixed up at either of the two poolside bars. DJ Soulman of the Phunk Junkeez provides the soundtrack at the event, spinning up Top 40 tracks and electronica. The event runs from noon until 5 p.m. Admission is free for hotel guests, $25 for the general public.
