Flying High

It’s not exactly the Thanksgiving Day parade, but giant seven-story high bumblebees and other creatures will fill the sky during the 4th annual Cave Creek Balloon Festival. That’s just part of the fun as local vendors and restaurateurs provide food and libations while local bands sound off from country to rock. Want to get high but don’t have a balloon? Try a Rainbow Ryders tethered balloon ride. The Arizona Skyhawks present a special pyrotechnic-filled skydive after the balloon launch.

Gates open at 3 p.m. for the Saturday, January 4, festival at Rancho Mañana Golf Club, 5736 East Rancho Mañana Boulevard. Inflation commences at 6 p.m. and lasts until 8 p.m. with sky diving performances to follow. Tickets are $10, $5 ages 10 and under, free ages 2 and under. VIP tickets are $60 adults, and $25 for ages 10 and under. Visit
