Obscura Prom at Rips Ales & Cocktails The cats behind venerated monthly dance party Obscura offered the chance to relive one of high school's biggest rites of passage on Saturday, June 8, at Rips Ales & Cocktails with annual their prom. It had all the trappings of a John Hughesian experience (minus all the adolescent melodrama and an appearance by Ducky Dale), including DJs like Adrian Flanagan and JonnY Rogers providing a soundtrack of '80s dance pop and New Wave hits, tuxes, corsages, a photo booth, and maybe even a smidge of gleeful awkwardness.

G-String Runway Show at Monarch Theatre, 6/8/13 G-String: A Swimsuit Runway Show at Monarch Theatre featured some daring creations by 13 local designers. Nightlife promoter Jen Deveroux, who organized the fashion event, says the designers, "all have different opinions on what a swimsuit is."

First Friday in Downtown Phoenix (6/7/13) This month's First Friday art walk turned out large crowds and a cadre of street performers. We toured through MonOrchid, Modified, five15, and 1spot.
