Next week’s Phoenix Comicon is the premier event in the southwest for comic book nerds and pop culture enthusiasts. If you’re a fanboy or fangirl who can’t wait for the Memorial Day weekend geek-fiesta, the Pixel Art Show & Retro Video Game Trivia shindig at Bookmans, should whet your appetite nicely.

Mel the Office Gamer Girl is the Valley’s doyenne of old school and obscure video games. Her online video series explores the off-beat games that have garnered cult followings. (See it at Her pixel art portrays underground classics and more well-known video game heroes, too, such as Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog. See it during the event, which also includes a few rounds of retro video game trivia that will engage knowledgeable gamers, with Bookman’s swag as the prime prizes.
