Geared Up

Since being invented, bicycles have provided a natural inspiration for artists. Whether for those making an environmental statement or those captivated by the beauty, grace, and mystique of two-wheeled horses and their riders, bicycle imagery has appeared on everything from beer labels to campaign posters. This concept comes together locally this weekend with Pedal Craft PHX Volume Two.

This single-evening event (an art/cycle equivalent of the fixed-gear bike, if you will) celebrates the city’s blossoming urban bike scene with a poster show (posters will be on sale -- sneak a peek via the link below), hundreds of cyclists (art in itself!), a bike rack exhibition sponsored by SideWalk Phoenix, and a talk with author, former racer, Rivendell Bicycle Works owner, and general cycling advocate Grant Petersen. Group rides (from beginner to hardcore) will depart the event aimed (eventually) at area pubs and restaurants outfitted with bike racks.
