Girl's Next Door

We pass through doors both literal and figurative every day, but fail to stop and appreciate their beauty more often than not. Photographer Nicole Dunlap set out to explore neighborhoods around the world through a study of doors. The first exhibition of her planned photo series, “Doors of Hermosillo,” wanders through various blocks in Hermosillo, the capital of Sonora in Mexico.

“I hope to reveal the beauty and uniqueness of such familiar pieces of everyday life to not only the viewers of these photographs – seeing Mexico as the colorful and eclectic destination that it is – but also to the many locals who questioned my motives for noticing and photographing their ‘ordinary’ doors,” Dunlap says.
