Giving the Devils Their Due

For the first time ever, the best team in a local men’s college basketball doubleheader that’s not named the Cactus Classic/Sleep America Tourney might be the Arizona State Sun Devils. Wow, really? Yes, on the real. In case you haven’t been paying attention, the nationally ranked Devils have been schooling fools this season and living up to their Top 15 preseason ranking. But more important to maroon-and-gold fans, ASU and its first-team All-American James Harden seem like they may be truly competitive with the traditionally invincible Arizona Wildcats and their big dude, Chase Budinger (pictured). Wow, really? Yes, on the real. Don’t believe us? Judge for yourself during the Desert Classic college b-ball doubleheader. ASU takes on IUPUI at 1 p.m., followed by UofA versus Gonzaga at 4.
