That skaters have a rep for being super-mellow slackers is no coincidence. After all, their sport was created by terminally laidback surfer dudes who wanted to translate wave riding into a more practical means of transport.

Although we wouldn’t call the gravity-defying tricks displayed at Scottsdale’s 12th Annual Skate Competition practical. Each skater will have two one-minute runs to show off their craziest, most impressive stunts. The top five skaters will win a prize pack stuffed with goodies from Zia Records, Cowtown Skateboards, and more.
