High Times

Have some rich friends living downtown? Well, this is the time to make them do you a favor so that you can view the Fort McDowell Fiesta Bowl Parade in person.

Everybody should peep a parade live at least once, and you may watch for free from any legal spot you can find -- we know several people who turn their high-rise offices into VIP suites for the day (that’s where your high-up friends come in). For its 36th year, the hour-and-a-half Parade will march, roll, and trot along for about two miles, and will feature brass bands, big ol' balloons, intricate floats, horsies galore, and Grand Marshals Chelsea Staub of Disney Channel’s Jonas and professional wrestler/actor John Cena.

It starts at 11 a.m. at Central and Montebello Avenues. Reserved seats in the parade-route bleachers are $25 in advance. Call 480-350-0911, 800-635-5748, or check out www.fiestabowlparade.com, where you'll also find such hidden gems as: "Prior to the Budweiser Clydesdale Horses initial appearance in 1980, the major animal entry was six goats pulling a wino."

If you still don't care to be part of what claims to be the largest gathering of spectators in Arizona, then watch 3TV's live commercial-free broadcast or the Webcast at www.azfamily.com.
