History's Mystery

Does 850 to 1150 C.E. mean anything to you? All you probably really know is that it was a long-ass time ago. After seeing Mystery of Chaco Canyon, however, you’ll be more cognizant of the ancient Chacoan people. With the help of architectural ruins, the society’s culture is pieced together to reveal ceremonial structures, celestial patterning, and city planning based on astrology.

The film – which draws on twenty whopping years of research to weave this intriguing story of the ancestors of the Pueblo nation – screens at the Heard Museum.
