While there may be plenty for outsiders to scoff at (wacky politicians, questionable legislation, sheriffs named Joe), there are still a few things that make Arizona pretty appealing. In fact, Arizona's rich landscapes, famous highways, and mostly beautiful weather make our state a downright oasis for any biker thirsty for the open road. So from Friday, March 28, through Sunday, April 6, our state celebrates its rich relationship with the bad boys of the highway with Arizona Bike Week.
While all are welcome to the numerous sponsored events around town, one might be wise to leave his Vespa or fixed-gear at home. Not surprisingly, many of the events aren't exactly family-friendly either. So those hoping to get a more wholesome taste of the festivities should look no further than Motorcycle Mechanics Institute's Annual Garage Party, replete with DJs, vendors, food trucks, and custom bike displays. This free, all-ages event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at MMI-Phoenix, 2844 West Deer Valley Road. Visit www.mmitech.edu/azbw or call 877-201-2666 for details.
