Two film students, miffed that their creation didn’t make their school’s festival, did what misunderstood geniuses have since time immemorial -- It Themselves.

The 1st Annual Ignominious Film Gala, going down at MADCAP Theaters, presents that overlooked new classic, Carl Jensen IV and James Hamilton Mitchell’s The Ignominious Triumph of Dr. Terry T. Shackleton, along with other gems from the reject pile, DJs, standup comics, live music from Underground Cities, and “other films we like,” says co-organizer Jensen.

For five measly bucks, you get bragging rights to attendance at the very first such gala, which the guys intend to make a yearly event, bigger and better and, in the words of Mitchell (whose uncle was in Caddyshack!), “more planned and polished.”

Screw that! You already know more than you need to.

Oh, wait; you do need to know that you can get your $5 tickets in advance at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/117657, locate MADCAP at 730 South Mill Avenue in Tempe, and find more information, as the evening draws closer, at 480-634-5192 or www.madcaptheaters.com.

There.
