In The Navy

Frank Sinatra was many things: serial husband, blue-eyed crooner, alleged mafia participant, and Oscar winner. But a fashion plate? That typically doesn’t make the list of his defining characteristics.

But Phoenix Art Museum’s ongoing nautical fashion film series includes Anchors Aweigh, the Sinatra-starring musical in which he wears sailor outfits and sings “I Fall in Love Too Easily.” Other highlights include Gene Kelly dancing with Jerry the cartoon mouse (alas, no Tom), and babely brunette Kathryn Grayson sings and dances along.

The fashionably fun film screens in conjunction with exhibition “The Sea,” on view in the Ellman Fashion Design Gallery, at Phoenix Art Museum.
