In the Same Boat

It’s not often that Phoenix hosts a world championship in any sport. With the exception of the Mercury, the last to be crowned was the D-Backs in 2001. That's why the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series is cause for civic pride because our town will crown the first world champion in drag-boat racing history. The event at Firebird International Raceway represents the first season in which the drag-boat community has competed under one umbrella. An arduous competition between more than 900 racing teams will conclude this weekend and will determine the first truly undisputed champion in the history of the sport.
