King of Comedy

The old adage “you write what you know” rings especially true in the case of D.L. Hughley, who grew up in South Central Los Angeles, joined the Bloods gang and became a comedian after his cousin was shot.

The mastermind behind UPN’s hit family show, The Hughleys bases his humor on life experiences. Hughley uses stand-up comedy to puzzle over why white people wake up at 5 a.m. to walk their dogs and waste money on pet cemetery plots. He also enjoys discussing women and their obsession with Costco. While ladies love shopping, Hughley prefers spending his day eating, having sex, and watching porn and football because, after all, “porno ain’t nothing but a love story with all the talking taken out.”
