Light Therapy

Is the latest Eckhart Tolle tome not doing it for you in the enlightenment department? Then you may want to check out the “Spiritual Homecoming” exhibit that features work by multi-media artists Bridget Conn, Toshi Ueshina, and Ron Bimrose. Conn’s three-dimensional installations engage familial ritual through found objects, beeswax, cinnamon, and teabags, while Ueshina’s dramatic sepia-toned photo collages are created from “cracked images and accidental chemical patterns.”

One of our faves in this show is Bimrose’s Chicago freeway photograph that’s painted with breathy strokes and washes of white. Look closely and you’ll see that Bimrose – who says that his work “filters down into the juxtaposition between man and nature” – has also captured three birds that tunnel out of the blank sky.

Mondays-Thursdays, Saturdays. Starts: March 9. Continues through April 15, 2010
