Loud and Proud

Although Phoenix doesn't exactly top the list of gay-friendly 'hoods, there's nothing can keep fabulous down. And since 1981, the Valley’s LGBTQ community has made its rounds, letting anyone and everyone know that they're a force to be reckoned with. Moving beyond the line, “We’re here, we’re queer, get used to it," this year the Phoenix Pride Festival adopts a newer, more controversial phrase: “Born This Way.” The new theme comes courtesy of (who else) Lady Gaga.

But, it won't be all about men in itty bitty swimwear (though there is undoubtedly some of that) when Phoenix Pride Festival takes over Steele Indian School Park. Instead, the event will work to gather and unite the local community. And we're not sure there's anyone better to take on that task than the Village People.
