Phoenix native Joe “Diesel” Riggs has seen his share of ups and downs during his fighting career, but most of them have come at his weigh-ins. The Cactus High School alumnus has fought as a 300-pound heavyweight, a 170-pound welterweight, and at virtually everything in between.

“Diesel” – fighting at a catch-weight of 182 pounds – will be hoping for an up moment when he main-events tonight’s Strikeforce Challengers. Riggs (32-12) will take on knockout-specialist Louis Taylor (6-1, 4 KOs) in a bout that should be heavy on striking.

For fans of women’s MMA, the event’s undercard features a four-woman, single-elimination tournament between Miesha Tate, Carina Damm, Hitomi Akano, and Maiju Kujala.
