Save your Halloween costumes and start gathering materials. You’ll need both for the Phoenix Annual Parade of the Arts on Saturday, November 10. Organized by a small group (and attended by hundreds of art fans and community members), the funky event is a celebration of creativity and a competition in float building, costume making, and bike decorating. This year’s theme, "Legend City," comes from the long-gone iconic Phoenix theme park -- and from the legends and stories Phoenicians want to share.

The parade includes a walk of locally made floats and costumed participants through downtown and the arts district with a grand return to its starting point: the A.R.T.S. Market, 408 East Roosevelt Street. The celebration includes live performances by local bands, awards for best costumes, floats, and bikes, and plenty of great people-watching.
