It’s hard to keep a good duo down. The crime-solving team of Navajo Nation police detectives Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee lives on in the latest work from Anne Hillerman, who’ll discuss her first foray into fiction on Thursday, March 20.

Leaphorn and Chee are the beloved protagonists of 18 of the Southwestern mysteries of Tony Hillerman, who passed away at 83 in 2008. Already accomplished in non-fiction writing, Anne Hillerman delved into the world created by her father and published the novel Spider Woman’s Daughter last fall. In the New York Times best seller, Chee’s wife and Navajo Nation police officer Bernadette Manuelito takes a more central role in the sleuthing.

Anne Hillerman will speak at the Steele Auditorium of the Heard Museum, 2301 North Central Avenue in Phoenix, from noon to 1:30 p.m. Admission is free, and copies of Hillerman’s novel are $26.99. For more information, visit www.heard.org/events or call 602-252-8840.
