Patty Hannon has gained a rep for being the Sister you love to hate in the long-running Late Nite Catechism at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. There won’t be any knuckle-rapping, though, when the veteran actress takes on a much more serious role in Space 55’s new play, The Bakers of Lakewood.

In the world premiere of the production by playwright Philip Egan Schmiedl, Hannon plays a controlling mother caught in a tense triangle with her son and his love interest. “In this role, Patty Hannon is both frightening and heartbreaking,” says artistic director Shawna Franks, who also plays the girlfriend. “She will take the audience into the underbelly of the human condition as well as sweeten it with laughter.”
